VP of Engineering

Emeryville, CA

Spatial is looking for a highly motivated VP of Engineering with a strong understanding of developing a SaaS application to lead the team through the next stage of growth. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring the engineering team while working cross functionally to meet the company’s goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

What you will do:
  • As a member of the executive team, reporting to the technical Co-Founder, you will drive long-term research and development projects that meet the company’s commercial and strategic goals.
  • Own the engineering infrastructure and instill a spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Product, Creative, Business Development, etc. to identify the highest impact technology opportunities to accelerate the product and user experience.
  • Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges in your organization.
  • Manage and scale all Engineering teams in the organization and build a world-class organization that is focused on productivity, inclusivity, and employee retention.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to your managers and directors so they grow and feel inspired.
  • Drive workflow development and proactively seek out opportunities to improve existing processes for scale.

  • You have experience as an engineering leader with proven software engineering management success.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • You have 5+ years as a senior engineering manager; successfully managed a team a medium to large engineering team, preferably for a SaaS company.
  • Successfully scaled an engineering organization from a Series B company and beyond.
  • Experience leading projects through design, implementation, and long-term maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ownership and understanding of large, real-time high availability systems.
  • Experience building teams which are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of one another.
  • Proficient with C/C++, Linux, iOS/macOS, other industry standard languages & systems, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills.
